The José Valdés Math Institute is included in the Bright Spots in Hispanic Education National Online Catalog!
The Jose Valdés Math Institute has been selected as a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education! The Bright Spots were announced on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 during a press conference in Washington, D.C. The catalog is accessible at www.ed.gov/HispanicInitiative.
Below is a quote from The White House Initiative On Educational Excellence for Hispanics:
"Today, nearly one in four students in our nation’s public schools is a Hispanic youth. Making sure these young people have the opportunity to achieve their dreams isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s also a matter of our shared success as a country. In just the next few decades, Hispanics will represent nearly one in three American workers. It’s clear; the future of our nation is closely connected to the future of our Hispanic communities. When we lift up the Hispanic community, we strengthen our nation. When we create more ladders of opportunity, we provide the chance for all Americans to reach their greatest potential."
This is subject to change, but currently Valdés Math will host its 7-week 2016 summer program at these locations:
Classes at Stanford University for students from Ravenswood, Redwood City
Classes at San Jose City College for students from Franklin-McKinley, Alum Rock, Oak Grove
Classes at Notre Dame de Namur University
*Our courses are aligned with California Common Core!
Classes at Silver Creek High School
